Here's a copy of a font called Beowulf1 which is very close to what's in that second article. Very small (44kb) so would be easy to download. It shows an upper case which I'm not sure was invented at that time (could have been, I'm just not sure). (The UC style is not necessarily consistent which is further clue to its authenticity -- I think has experience with this alphabet.)

Edit
: I revisited the article and see two UC letters which are identical to this font so maybe it's more truthful than fanciful!

It's fun to try these and see how the "locals" would see the printed word. TD

Another "TouchDown!" Thanks TD! I printed it out for future reference.

This is what got me into this mess in 2004, trying to read old Scottish documents.
